FAQ

What is the Nebraska Infertility Foundation?
The Nebraska Infertility Foundation is a nonprofit – 501(c)(3) – working to raise funds to give financial relief to Nebraska families struggling with infertility. The foundation aims to help future parents by spreading awareness, fundraising, and accepting donations to assist with fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF, egg and embryo donation, as well as gestational surrogacy and adoption.

How much does IVF cost?

The cost of any infertility treatment, such as IVF, can vary depending on your circumstances and the clinic’s rate. However, in general, IVF costs can range from $8,000 to $15,000+ per cycle, plus the cost of medication.

What are the costs associated with other fertility treatments such as egg donation, artificial insemination, and surrogacy?

Just like with IVF, the costs can vary greatly. In general, artificial insemination (also known as IUI) can be as low as $500. However, this procedure often needs repeated multiple times which results in final costs being as high as $5,000.

Egg donation can start at $10,000 but is likely to be much higher depending on the donor and clinic selected.

Surrogacy fees can be as high as $140,000 when including an agency fee, lawyers’ fees, surrogacy payments, and medical costs.

How much does adoption cost?

Private domestic adoption costs vary by state and agency. Agency fees can range anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000. Additional costs such as birth parent expenses, home studies, post placement visits, travel, and legal fees contribute to a grand total of $25,000 to $50,000.

Do the funds cover fertility medications?

There are certain circumstances and contingencies that allow the funds awarded to go towards fertility medications. The recipient must qualify for specific financial criteria and the final decision is up to the discretion of the NIF’s board of directors.

I already have a child. Can I receive funds from NIF?

Yes, couples with secondary infertility can receive funds from NIF, as long as they meet the criteria and requirements above.

Can I donate to a friend of family member anonymously?

Yes! While I’m sure the recipient would love to thank you for your generous donation, you are able to keep your name just between you and NIF. When donating, make sure to check the box “Donate Anonymously” so we know not to publicly share your identity with the recipient. You will still be sent a receipt after donating to use for tax purposes.

Can I deduct my donation to NIF from my taxes?

NIF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits are tax-deductible. This means that when you contribute to an organization that has been designated as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS and you have not received anything in return for your gift, you are eligible for a deduction when you file your taxes.
